Cloudflare and OpenAI launched a research pilot to optimize how AI search engines index web content. The collaboration uses network-level signals from Cloudflare’s infrastructure to improve indexing efficiency and accuracy.
Cloudflare currently services more than 20% of the web. The company will provide real-time data on content freshness and traffic quality to OpenAI. These signals aim to improve the timeliness of answers within OpenAI systems, including ChatGPT.
CEO Matthew Prince stated that sharing network signals will help users receive quality answers faster. The pilot tests if signal-driven crawling enhances the accuracy of AI-generated responses.
Cloudflare shares fell approximately 2% in premarket trading on Wednesday following the announcement.
