NIO Vice President Ma Lin announced the 'Shenji NX9031' intelligent driving chip at the 2026 China Automotive Chongqing Forum. The self-developed 5nm automotive-grade chip is now significantly reducing production costs.

This transition follows a cumulative $300 million expenditure on NVIDIA chips. The proprietary hardware aims to bolster NIO’s financial performance and operational efficiency.

Ma Lin reported that higher-trim vehicle configurations now represent over 90% of consumer orders. The company is currently balancing gross margin targets against aggressive price cuts from flagship competitors.
