Nokia plans to lay off the majority of its mainland China workforce by the end of the year.
The company intends to gradually shut down its regional operations following years of shrinking business.
Nokia confirmed the closure of its Hangzhou office, which currently employs 1,600 people.
While the company has not confirmed a nationwide wind-down, it stated it is adjusting its footprint to reflect a changing business environment.
