Commonwealth Fusion Systems (CFS) announced a significant construction update for its SPARC project, which aims to demonstrate the first commercially viable net-energy fusion machine. The company has been proceeding with the assembly of the tokamak, a key step toward its goal of producing its first plasma.
In a concurrent development, CFS is collaborating with Nvidia to create a sophisticated digital twin of its fusion systems. This virtual model, built on platforms like Nvidia's Omniverse, will be used to simulate and optimize the reactor's performance. The goal is to accelerate the path to commercial fusion energy by refining designs and operational strategies in a virtual environment before implementing them on physical machines.
