China is preparing to approve commercial imports of NVIDIA’s H200 artificial intelligence chips. This approval is expected as soon as the first quarter of 2026. The move grants NVIDIA renewed access to the world’s largest semiconductor market following U.S. export restrictions.

The approval, however, includes strict limitations due to security concerns. The H200 chips are barred from use by the military, sensitive government agencies, critical infrastructure, and state-owned enterprises.

Despite these restrictions, the decision marks a significant victory for the U.S. chipmaker. In response to high demand and ongoing regulatory uncertainty, NVIDIA is implementing unusual payment terms for its Chinese customers.

NVIDIA requires full upfront payment for H200 chip orders. The company offers no options for cancellation or refunds.
