China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) warned on Saturday of a potential global semiconductor shortage following "new conflicts" at Nexperia. The Dutch chipmaker is a subsidiary of China’s Wingtech Technology.
MOFCOM reported that Nexperia disabled the office accounts of all employees based in China. This action allegedly created new obstacles for negotiations intended to resolve internal corporate disputes.
The escalation threatens the automotive supply chain, where Nexperia serves as a critical supplier of essential chips. Beijing stated the Dutch side must bear full responsibility if these disputes trigger a crisis in the global semiconductor supply chain.
