Oklo Inc. secured a portion of more than $19 million in U.S. Department of Energy funding. The department awarded the capital to five companies to advance recycling technologies for spent nuclear fuel.
Oklo will use the funding to develop a recycling facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This facility will reprocess used fuel for the company’s Aurora fast reactors.
The government award follows a recent agreement with Meta to power the tech giant's data centers. Oklo and two other nuclear companies will collectively provide up to 6.6 GW of power under that deal.
