Oracle appointed Hilary Maxson as chief financial officer, effective immediately.

Maxson joins the company from energy management firm Schneider Electric. She will steer Oracle's finances as it invests heavily in artificial intelligence and cloud services.

The appointment follows Oracle's announcement of thousands of layoffs last week. Maxson will manage the substantial debt used to finance a massive data center build-out.

Her compensation includes a base salary of $950,000. Maxson is also eligible for a target performance-based bonus of $2.5 million.
