At its AI World 2025 conference, Oracle Corporation announced a series of significant advancements aimed at strengthening its position in the artificial intelligence sector. A central announcement was the launch of the AI-native Oracle AI Database 26AI, which includes AI vectors for semantic content representation. The company also made its Oracle AI Data Platform generally available, providing comprehensive data analytics and AI capabilities. Further bolstering its infrastructure, Oracle introduced new cloud networking capabilities called Oracle Acceleron to enhance workload performance and cost-effectiveness. In a move to compete with other major cloud providers, Oracle's newly appointed co-CEOs defended the company's large-scale investment in data centers, framing it as a strategy to deliver applied AI across infrastructure, analytics, and applications. Underscoring this expansion, Oracle detailed plans for new AI clusters, including the 'OCI Zettascale10' which will house up to 800,000 Nvidia GPUs, and a separate cluster with 50,000 of AMD's upcoming Instinct MI450 GPUs. Analysts have noted that these moves position Oracle as a significant 'AI compute rental model,' fundamentally shifting its role from a cloud service provider to a wholesaler of AI infrastructure, in a strategic partnership with chipmaker Nvidia.
