Paris prosecutors have launched an investigation into several online retail platforms, including PDD Holdings' subsidiary Temu, over the alleged dissemination of content accessible to minors, with some accusations involving child pornography. The probe was initiated after a complaint from France's consumer watchdog and has been referred to the National Office for Minors to investigate. A spokesperson for Temu stated that the accusations against the company were related to minors accessing certain products on its platform and clarified that Temu itself was not being probed for child pornography. The investigation also includes competitors such as Shein, AliExpress, and Wish, and comes as Shein and AliExpress face a more specific investigation for the dissemination of pornographic images of minors.
