Pfizer established a settlement program to resolve federal lawsuits involving its Depo-Provera birth control shot. Plaintiffs allege the injection caused intracranial meningiomas, a form of brain tumor. A case-management order from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida officially noted the agreement.
The court reports over 6,200 cases are currently pending in the multidistrict litigation. Financial terms of the agreement remain confidential. Pfizer denies any fault or liability in the matter.
Legal Bay estimates the program could resolve approximately 5,000 claims. The funding company values the potential aggregate settlement at more than $1.2 billion. Eligible claimants must register for the program by November 30, 2026.
