Planet Labs PBC indefinitely suspended access to satellite imagery of Iran and the surrounding conflict region on Saturday. The company acted on a U.S. government request reportedly issued to all satellite imagery providers.

This policy expands a previous 14-day delay on Middle East imagery implemented in March. The indefinite blackout applies retroactively from March 9, 2026.

The restriction will remain in place until the regional conflict concludes. Planet Labs transitioned to a managed distribution system for future image releases.

The company will release data on a case-by-case basis for urgent, mission-critical needs. It will also consider releases that serve the public interest.
