Pembina Pipeline, Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners, and Kineticor Asset Management reached a final investment decision on the Greenlight Electricity Centre.
The C$4.6 billion (US$3.2 billion) project involves building a 932-megawatt natural gas-fired power plant in Sturgeon County, Alberta. The facility will exclusively serve a major, unnamed data center development to meet rising AI and cloud computing demand.
Pembina will operate the plant under a long-term, fee-based tolling agreement. Construction begins immediately with an expected completion date in the second half of 2030. The project design allows for a future capacity expansion to 1,864 megawatts.
