The U.S. Department of Justice (DoJ) intervened in the antitrust lawsuit challenging the $110 billion merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery.
The DoJ filed a statement in a California federal court supporting Paramount’s demand for a substantial bond from the 12 states seeking to block the deal.
Paramount is requesting a bond of approximately $1.88 billion to cover potential damages and daily fees resulting from merger delays.
This financial security would protect the companies if the court-ordered injunction is later overturned.
The DoJ previously cleared the merger, which a coalition of states is now contesting over competition concerns.
