MediaTek Unveils First 2nm Smartphone Chip, Challenging Qualcomm in AI Race

MediaTek launched the Dimensity 9600 Pro and 9600M flagship smartphone processors. The Dimensity 9600 Pro is the company's first chip manufactured on TSMC’s 2-nanometer process.

The new hardware targets the premium market to compete with U.S. rival Qualcomm. The 9600 Pro features a dedicated AI processor to improve generative AI performance.

MediaTek also introduced the Dimensity 9600M using TSMC’s 3-nanometer process for high-end handsets. Both chips are expected to debut in smartphones later this year.
