Qualcomm announced its new flagship chipset, the Snapdragon Reality Elite. It powers next-generation extended reality (XR) devices, including augmented and mixed reality headsets. The company made the announcement at the Augmented World Expo. It detailed upgrades over its predecessor, the Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2.
The platform boasts up to 60% higher GPU performance. It offers 30% higher CPU performance. Neural Processing Unit (NPU) performance increased by 160% to handle on-device AI tasks. The chipset supports 4.4K resolution per eye at 90 frames per second. Qualcomm highlighted a 20% improvement in battery life. The chip runs up to 12 degrees Celsius cooler under load, enabling smaller and lighter device designs. XREAL's Project Aura is the first confirmed device to use the new chip.
