Volkswagen Group and Qualcomm Technologies signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) for a long-term supply agreement focused on next-generation vehicles. The deal utilizes Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis.
The Snapdragon Digital Chassis will serve as the foundation for the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) architecture. This architecture is currently under development by RV Tech, the joint venture between Volkswagen and Rivian Automotive.
The partnership aims to deliver high-performance chips for key vehicle functions. These include advanced infotainment, AI-driven features, and highly automated driving capabilities. Deployment is scheduled to begin in 2027.
This collaboration emphasizes the central role of the RV Tech joint venture. RV Tech develops foundational technology for Volkswagen’s future electric vehicle portfolio across the Western hemisphere.
