Ryanair said on October 5 that it will “vigorously oppose” a High Court action in Ireland brought by ENAA, a competitor lobbying group that includes Lufthansa and Air France/KLM. The case seeks to suspend Ryanair’s air operating license, which would effectively ground its flights.

ENAA alleges that Ryanair does not comply with EU ownership and control rules. Ryanair rejects the claim as “contrived” and says it is an anticompetitive tactic by rivals unable to compete with its low fares. The airline says it complies with all EU rules and argues the action would restrict passenger choice and competition in Europe.
