SoftBank Group plans to raise 1 trillion yen ($6.3 billion) through a retail corporate bond sale. This represents the largest retail bond offering ever by a Japanese company. The seven-year bonds will likely offer interest rates in the upper 4% range.

Final terms for the offering will be set in early September. SoftBank will use the proceeds to accelerate investments in artificial intelligence. This high-yield offering coincides with the Bank of Japan gradually increasing interest rates.
