Shoprite completed a skills and development training program for practitioners from ten Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres in the Western Cape. The initiative forms part of Shoprite's Act for Change programme. It provided training in teaching techniques, child development, and classroom management. The program aims to improve early learning quality for 580 children. These children reside in Atlantis, Langa, and Gugulethu.

Shoprite partnered with The Early Care Foundation to deliver the program. This initiative forms a component of Shoprite's wider investment in ECD. Nationally, the retailer supports 148 ECD centres. It provides daily nutritious meals to over 10,000 children. For many, this represents their most substantial meal of the day.
