Sony forecasts a 32.2% return on invested capital (ROIC) for its PlayStation division in fiscal year 2026. The projection covers the period from April 2026 through March 2027.

This target marks the first time the gaming segment will exceed the 30% ROIC threshold in four years. Sony expects the division's operating profit to reach a record $3.7 billion.

The outlook follows a period of heavy spending, including the acquisition of developer Bungie. These strategic investments previously lowered the division's returns to below 20%.

Management expects these acquisitions to mature and drive long-term profitability for the gaming and network services ecosystem.
