Sempra subsidiary Oncor Electric Delivery will construct the majority of new transmission projects in Texas. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) recently endorsed the expansion. Total investment for these projects will exceed $7 billion. The upgrades target the southern Dallas-Fort Worth area and the I-35 corridor. The new infrastructure will support approximately 16 gigawatts of additional electricity demand. Construction is scheduled for completion between 2026 and 2034. Sempra currently holds an 80.25% stake in Oncor.
