Samsung Electronics announced its largest-ever shareholder return plan valued between 90 trillion and 110 trillion won ($65 billion to $79.5 billion). Soaring profits from the artificial intelligence sector fueled the record-breaking program.

The company plans a 30 trillion won cash dividend for the third quarter. This three-year policy commits to returning 50% of free cash flow to investors. Samsung will finalize the specific payout structure in January 2027.

The move follows a similar buyback by competitor SK Hynix amid pressure on Korean chipmakers to share AI windfalls. Market reaction remained mixed as shares fell in Seoul following the announcement. Some investors reportedly expected a larger figure despite the record total.
