AT&T will invest more than $250 billion over the next five years to expand and enhance its U.S. network infrastructure.

The capital allocation targets the accelerated deployment of high-speed fiber, 5G home internet, and wireless and satellite services.

Surging data demand, driven in part by the growth of artificial intelligence, serves as the primary catalyst for the investment.

The initiative spans urban, suburban, and rural areas across the country.

AT&T plans to hire thousands of new technicians in 2026 to build and maintain the upgraded systems.

The company will also continue investing in FirstNet, its dedicated network for first responders.

This announcement coincides with the 150th anniversary of the first telephone call.
