Epic Games is laying off more than 1,000 employees. CEO Tim Sweeney cited a decline in Fortnite player engagement as the primary driver. The company currently spends significantly more than it earns.

This move follows a previous reduction of 830 staff in September 2023. Epic recently increased the price of Fortnite V-Bucks to help offset rising costs.

The company is implementing over $500 million in additional cost savings. These cuts target areas including marketing and contracting.
