Tencent released and open-sourced Hy3-preview, its latest flagship artificial intelligence model. Former OpenAI researcher Yao Shunyu led the development of the model. The model features 295 billion parameters. This smaller size signals a strategic shift away from the industry trend of building increasingly larger models. The Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) architecture balances performance with cost-effectiveness for business applications. Developers completed the preview version in under three months. The model currently powers products like the Yuanbao consumer app. Tencent is gathering public feedback to finalize the version.
