More than 200 Thomson Reuters employees in the United States are urging the company to cancel a $22.8 million contract with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The Minnesota-based staff sent a letter claiming the agency's use of investigative software contradicts the company's mission and values.

The letter highlights concerns over software used to track individuals and vehicle license plates for immigration enforcement. The New York Times and the Minnesota Star Tribune first reported the internal protest.

A company spokeswoman responded that Thomson Reuters supports national security and public safety investigations. The company maintains safeguards to ensure all products are used according to the law and contractual terms.
