Tesla's Cybertruck sales experienced a steep decline of 63% in the third quarter of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024, with 5,385 units sold. This is in stark contrast to the overall electric vehicle market, which saw a significant sales increase driven by the expiration of a federal tax credit. The company now projects to deliver around 20,000 Cybertrucks in 2025, a substantial decrease from the approximately 50,000 sold in the previous year. This news comes as Tesla is also facing a lawsuit filed by the families of two individuals who died in a fiery Cybertruck crash, alleging that faulty door handles prevented the occupants from escaping. On a more positive note for the company, Tesla's Shanghai Gigafactory has reportedly ramped up production for the fourth quarter to meet demand in China and the Asia-Pacific region. Additionally, there are reports that Tesla China is accelerating the development of lower-cost variants of the Model Y and Model 3, with production anticipated to start in mid-2026.
