Tesla avoided a potential 30-day suspension of its California sales and manufacturing licenses. The company halted the use of the term Autopilot in state marketing to comply with consumer protection laws.
The California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) confirmed Tesla’s compliance on Tuesday. This follows a previous regulatory accusation that Tesla misled consumers regarding its advanced driver-assistance systems.
An administrative law judge ruled the marketing for Autopilot and Full Self-Driving (FSD) was deceptive because the technology requires active driver supervision. The DMV had issued a deadline for Tesla to address these concerns or face the suspension.
