New Tesla registrations, a proxy for sales, rose in several key European markets in September, extending the automaker’s regional rebound.
Registrations in France increased 61.9% from a year earlier. They rose 38.4% in Sweden. In Norway, they increased 2.2%.
The gains follow two years of declining sales in Europe. From January through August, Tesla registrations across the European Union, Britain and the European Free Trade Association grew 43.3%, outpacing the overall battery-electric vehicle market.
Government incentives and growing consumer demand for electric vehicles have been cited as factors behind the rebound. Final figures from Germany and the UK, two of Europe’s largest markets, are expected later this week.
