A California state judge has decertified a class-action lawsuit against Tesla, which involved allegations of widespread racial harassment from more than 6,000 Black workers at its Fremont factory. The lawsuit, originally filed in 2017, claimed that Black employees were subjected to racial slurs, discriminatory graffiti, and nooses being hung at their workstations. The judge reversed a prior decision to grant class-action status, citing that many of the workers chosen to testify were unwilling to participate, making it unfeasible to apply their experiences to the entire group. This is a significant legal victory for the electric vehicle maker, which has consistently stated it does not tolerate workplace harassment. The plaintiffs' attorney has indicated that the legal battle will continue, with workers pursuing their claims individually or in smaller groups.
