CEO Elon Musk announced Tesla will begin mass production of the Semi electric truck in 2026.
Manufacturing will take place at a new dedicated facility near the company’s Nevada Gigafactory. The plant targets an annual output capacity of 50,000 units once fully operational.
The Class 8 truck was first unveiled in 2017 with an original production target of 2019. Battery supply constraints caused multiple years of delays to the project.
Tesla currently maintains a low-volume pilot program for the Semi. Early production units are in use by customers such as PepsiCo for field evaluation.
