Tesla’s sales in the European Union, Britain, and the Euro Free Trade Association (EFTA) declined in November, according to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association.
Sales fell 11.8% year-on-year, totaling 22,801 units. This downturn caused Tesla’s market share in the region to contract to 2.1%, down from 2.5% a year prior.
This decline coincided with a significant surge for Chinese competitor BYD. During the same period, BYD’s sales increased dramatically by 221.8%, reaching 21,133 units.
This rapid growth propelled BYD’s market share to 2%, up from just 0.6% in the previous year. BYD now stands nearly on par with Tesla in this crucial market, highlighting intensifying competition from Chinese electric vehicle manufacturers in Europe.
