A magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck off northeastern Taiwan Saturday night. The epicenter was located 32.3 kilometers east of Yilan County Hall. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) evacuated some staff at select facilities as a precautionary measure.
TSMC confirmed that safety systems at all fabrication plants operated normally following the quake. The company noted the evacuation of a small number of fabs in the Hsinchu Science Park adhered to emergency procedures.
Power and water supplies across the science park complex remained normal. Authorities reported no major injuries from the earthquake as of early Sunday.
