Kaohsiung, Arizona, and Kumamoto Prefecture signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to establish a semiconductor development partnership. The agreement is a direct result of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s (TSMC) significant production facilities in all three locations.
Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai, Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs, and Kumamoto Governor Takashi Kimura finalized the pact. The partnership aims to foster international connections and safeguard global supply chain security.
This collaboration seeks to enhance democratic resilience through strategic industrial ties. The move underscores how TSMC’s global expansion strengthens semiconductor cooperation across the Indo-Pacific region.
