Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) is advancing plans for a new fabrication plant in the Tainan Science Park. The facility is scheduled for completion in 2028. Surging global demand for AI chips is driving this expansion strategy.
The project proposal recently finished its public review period. An environmental impact assessment review meeting is set for March 26. TSMC has not yet specified the process technology for the Tainan site. The company is currently constructing 2-nanometer fabs at other locations. The new plant will create approximately 1,400 direct jobs once operational.
