Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) is set to break ground on its most advanced fabrication plant for the 1.4-nanometer process, known as A14, in Taichung in October 2025. [4] This new project, part of Fab 25, will significantly increase TSMC's production capacity for its most cutting-edge chips. The A14 node is expected to deliver a substantial performance and efficiency boost over previous generations. The new A14 process will introduce second-generation gate-all-around transistors, offering up to 15% higher performance or a 25-30% reduction in power consumption compared to the N2 process. [4] The development is a critical step to support the next wave of high-performance computing and AI applications. Risk production is anticipated to begin in late 2027, with mass production slated for the second half of 2028. [4]
