The Taiwan Semiconductor Industry Association (TSIA), including industry leader TSMC, is calling on the government to establish strategic reserves of helium and liquefied natural gas.

Rising supply chain risks from Middle East tensions prompted the request to bolster onshore inventories.

In an unprecedented move, the association also expressed support for restarting nuclear power plants to ensure the stable energy supply required for chip manufacturing.

The TSIA chair stated that while short-term supplies remain manageable, the industry must prepare for medium-to-long-term uncertainties to secure future growth.
