Unity has announced the general availability of Android XR support in its Unity 6 platform, a move set to streamline the process for developers creating immersive experiences for the next wave of Android extended reality devices. This initiative was developed in close collaboration with Google and Samsung. As part of this launch, several day-one experiences for Samsung's new Galaxy XR headset were built using Unity's software. The company emphasized that this development provides a production-ready path for creators to bring their games and applications to this new hardware and the broader, open Android XR ecosystem with more confidence and less redundant work.
