United Airlines expects to take delivery of more than 250 new aircraft by April 2028. This represents the largest fleet expansion of any airline in a two-year period. The modernization strategy aims to attract brand-loyal and premium customers.

The airline will introduce a new premium transcontinental service called Coastliner. A subfleet of Airbus A321neo aircraft will operate exclusively between New York/Newark and hubs in Los Angeles and San Francisco.

These Coastliner jets will be the first domestic narrowbodies to offer all-aisle access and lie-flat United Polaris business class seats. Domestic passengers on these routes will receive access to United Polaris lounges for the first time.

The expansion includes Airbus A321XLRs to replace aging Boeing 757s on select international routes. United will also add new Boeing 787-9s featuring updated Polaris suites and redesigned regional jets.
