United Airlines flight attendants, represented by the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA), rejected a new contract proposal as long-running negotiations resumed in Chicago.

The AFA demands immediate pay increases and improved workplace conditions. The union notes the current contract has been amendable since August 2021, meaning cabin crews have gone without a raise for nearly six years.

Federally mediated bargaining sessions this week mark a critical phase. The protracted talks have now entered their fifth year. Last summer, 71% of voting members overwhelmingly turned down a tentative agreement.

The AFA emphasizes it will not accept concessions. The union remains focused on securing substantial economic gains for its members.
