The United Arab Emirates is moving forward with plans to construct a new container terminal and multipurpose port facility located on its eastern coastline. According to reporting from the Financial Times, the strategic infrastructure project aims to provide a maritime alternative that bypasses the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping chokepoint.

Dubai-based logistics giant DP World is currently engaged in negotiations to develop this new site within the coastal region of Fujairah. This expansion would enhance the country's ability to manage international trade flows without relying on the narrow waterway currently used for the majority of regional oil and cargo exports.
