Visa Inc. signed a definitive agreement to acquire Israeli cybersecurity firm BioCatch for $2.4 billion in cash. The company will purchase the fraud detection specialist from shareholders including British private equity firm Permira. This acquisition aims to strengthen Visa's existing security infrastructure.
BioCatch uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to analyze behavioral biometrics. The technology monitors thousands of signals including keystrokes and touch gestures to identify legitimate users. These real-time analytics detect threats such as scams and account takeovers.
Visa expects the transaction to close by the end of the second quarter of its 2027 fiscal year.
