Brazilian mining giant Vale SA is considering its first issuance of Panda bonds. These yuan-denominated instruments allow foreign entities to sell debt within China. The potential sale could occur as early as this year.
CFO Marcelo Bacci described the move as a natural step for the company. China currently accounts for approximately 50% of Vale's iron ore revenue.
Vale issued a clarifying statement on September 9, 2026. The company has not yet approved a formal decision regarding a Chinese bond transaction. Management will disclose any material decisions to the market promptly.
Vale is currently focusing on its core business and production growth. The company is not prioritizing an IPO for its base metals unit at this time.
