PepsiCo expanded its partnership with Fertiberia to scale green hydrogen-based fertilizers across its European supply chain. This long-term agreement targets lower agricultural emissions for brands including Lay's, Doritos, and Cheetos.
Fertiberia will supply up to 150,000 tonnes of Impact Zero low-carbon fertilizer annually by 2030. The initiative covers nearly 400,000 acres of farmland across France, Spain, and Greece. The program supports crops including potatoes and corn. A previous pilot program reduced potato farming emissions by up to 15%.
The expansion aligns with the PepsiCo Positive sustainability strategy to address agricultural carbon footprints. This large-scale supply deal aims to decarbonize core product production. The move may influence supply chain practices across the consumer staples sector. Market reports noted no immediate stock reaction.
