Walmart will remodel 650 Supercenters and Neighborhood Markets in 2026. The retailer plans to open approximately 20 new locations by early 2027. This expansion rate more than doubles the number of new stores opened in 2025.
The updates utilize the Store of the Future concept to integrate digital and in-store shopping. Planned improvements include refreshed layouts, wider aisles, and updated pharmacies. New digital touchpoints like QR codes will connect physical displays to the online catalog.
The company will also expand pickup and delivery services across these locations. This initiative marks the third consecutive year Walmart has committed to remodeling at least 650 stores. The strategy aims to modernize physical assets and improve the omnichannel shopping experience to drive growth.
