Eni discovered natural gas and condensate at the Geng North-1 exploration well off East Kalimantan, Indonesia. Preliminary estimates indicate the site holds 5 trillion cubic feet of gas. The discovery also contains 300 million barrels of condensate. The Indonesian government officially classified the find as a giant discovery.

The find could triple Eni’s production in Indonesia by 2028. New gas volumes will supply both domestic Indonesian markets and international exports. The development may shift regional energy supply dynamics. Indonesia currently faces pressure from high global energy prices as a net oil importer.
