Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources signed a memorandum of understanding with ExxonMobil and QatarEnergy.
The agreement explores connecting recent natural gas discoveries in Cyprus to Egypt’s established infrastructure. Partners will study transporting Cypriot gas to Egypt’s liquefaction and export facilities for global distribution.
The deal provides a clear commercialization path for ExxonMobil and QatarEnergy’s assets in the region. ExxonMobil remains a major holding in the VDE ETF.
This partnership leverages existing infrastructure to monetize regional gas discoveries more efficiently. The agreement aims to strengthen Egypt’s position as a primary energy hub for the Eastern Mediterranean.
