ExxonMobil leads $1B Nigeria oil project, ending eight-year drilling pause

ExxonMobil and partners NNPC, TotalEnergies, and Chevron committed $1 billion to the Usan Infill Project offshore Nigeria.

The partners announced the investment during the NOG Energy Week Conference.

The project will add approximately 40,000 barrels per day to Nigeria’s oil production.

This marks the first Nigerian drilling operation for ExxonMobil affiliate Esso Exploration and Production since 2016.

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission confirmed the project details.

The Usan field was discovered in 2002 and reached a capacity of 180,000 barrels per day after starting production in 2012.

This infill project develops the deepwater asset using a floating production, storage, and offloading vessel.
