Ukrainian forces launched a long-range drone strike against Russian offshore oil platforms in the northern Caspian Sea overnight on April 10th. Reports of the operation emerged on April 11th. The attack targeted two ice-resistant stationary platforms at the Yuri Korchagin and V. Graifer fields. Lukoil operates both of these facilities.

Ukraine’s military identifies these platforms as critical links for supplying fuel to the Russian army. The targets sit nearly 1,000 kilometers from the active front lines. This operation marks a significant expansion of Ukraine’s campaign beyond Black Sea and onshore targets.

The strikes place a broader range of Russia’s economic assets at risk. This escalation compounds supply fears in global markets already strained by Middle East tensions. Market volatility also reflects ongoing concerns regarding North Sea production.
